Winning a competition is more than just sitting on top of a majestic animal and going for a ride. The physical demands are great; but as you know, 80 percent of riding is concentration. The ability to clear your mind and focus on the task at hand is crucial—especially if you want to fine-tune your communication skills to the point of becoming one with the horse. But let’s face it: insecurities from a previous fall or ‘spook’ are most often remembered when it is crucial to do just the opposite. Even stresses from home, work or school can add to the mind clutter causing a lack of self confidence and self-esteem when you need it the most.
As an avid equestrian and certified hypnotherapist, I am passionate about helping other riders develop the skills to make their ride time more productive. Away from the barn, I use breathing, relaxation, guided-therapeutic-imagery and neurolinguistic programming techniques to reduce self-defeating anxiety, behaviors and beliefs. Hypnotherapy is also beneficial for memorizing a course and quieting nerves before a competition to increase performance. A focused mind with improved self-esteem will bring amazing rewards.
I have been using hypnotherapy as an avenue to success for over three years and have found it to be very effective. The satisfaction that comes from helping equestrians feel better and realize their dreams is as rewarding for me as it is the rider. I am also fully aware and respectful of my responsibilities and restrictions as a hypnotherapist as they are outlined in the Business and Professions Code 2908, which allows me to help people achieve vocational and a-vocational self- improvement goals.
